Reasons to choose us. And reasons not to.
Who fits your hearing aids matters more than which hearing aids you choose. Here is our honest case, both sides of it.
1. Every fitting is verified with Real Ear Measurement.
Real Ear Measurement (REM) places a thin probe microphone in your ear canal while the hearing aid is running, so we can see the actual sound arriving at your eardrum and adjust it to the prescriptive target for your loss. Industry surveys put the share of providers who routinely perform REM at roughly a third. We do it on every fitting, every time, and we show you the result. Read how we fit hearing aids.
2. We fit all seven major manufacturers.
Oticon, Phonak, ReSound, Starkey, Widex, Signia, and Unitron. We hold accounts with all of them, so our recommendation starts with your hearing loss, your ears, and your life, not with a catalog. Some of the biggest names in hearing care are owned by hearing aid manufacturers, and their recommendations start from what the parent company makes. Ours do not.
3. The people in this office.
Andy Schirmer, our owner, is a California licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist who has fit hearing aids in this valley for nine years. Dr. Robert Ivory, an audiologist who operates his own independent practice from our office, was the Director of Audiology at UC Davis Medical Center and spent seven years teaching audiology best practices at the university level. Yesenia, our patient care coordinator, can diagnose and repair most physical hearing aid problems on the spot.
4. Follow-up care is included, for the life of your hearing aids.
Adjustments, cleanings, and troubleshooting, anytime, at no additional charge, plus an automatic deep cleaning every six months. Every hearing aid we sell carries three years of repair coverage and three years of loss and damage coverage, and we provide loaner aids during repairs.
5. Independent and locally owned.
One office in Palm Springs, serving the Coachella Valley since 2012. Decisions about your care are made here, by the people who see you, and our patients rate us 4.9 stars across 83 Google reviews.
Reasons we might not be the right fit
We would rather you read these here than discover them after you have chosen us.
We are small.
A hearing instrument specialist and a patient care coordinator, with an independent audiologist practicing in the same suite. We schedule long appointments and we do not double-book, which means you may wait longer for an appointment than you would at a chain with six offices.
We are not the cheapest option in the valley.
Verified fittings take time, and follow-up care for the life of your hearing aids is built into what you pay. If the lowest possible price is the priority, a big-box store may well beat us, and we would rather tell you that here than have you find out after a bad experience somewhere else.
Our hours are ordinary.
Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 4:30, closed for lunch from 12:00 to 1:00. No evenings, no weekends.
If those trade-offs sound reasonable to you, we think you will like it here.
Come see the difference measurement makes.
Call us, or send a request and we will follow up. Please leave medical details out of the form; we will cover those in person.
