Desert Hearing Associates was founded in 2012 by Dr. Timothy Cook, Au.D. I have been practicing here for nine years, and in 2026 I took ownership of the practice. Same building, same phone number, same records, and the same approach to care that brought people here in the first place.

I trained under Dr. Cook and under Dr. Phillip Burney, Au.D., who many longtime valley residents will remember from his own practice years ago and who is well known in the audiology community here. Physicians across the desert have referred patients to us for hearing testing for years. Those relationships were built one patient at a time, and they are the part of this practice I am most careful with.

Why we do it this way

Much of this industry runs on volume. Advertised deals, short appointment slots, and pressure to close. When the appointment is built around selling a device rather than fitting it correctly, the fitting is what gets cut, and the patient is the one who lives with the result.

That is where the reputation of hearing aids comes from. Not the technology, which is genuinely good now, but the care around it. Someone gets an expensive device that was never verified, cannot describe what is wrong in a way that gets it fixed, is told they need to get used to it, and stops wearing them.

We built this practice the other way around. Longer appointments. Real Ear Measurement on every fitting. Follow-up care that does not expire. We would rather see fewer patients and keep them for twenty years.
